Red Sox Announce Roster Moves

BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today announced the following roster moves:

Yoshida, 33, was removed from last night’s game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third inning with left hamstring tightness. The left-handed hitter has batted .274 (72-for-263) with 16 doubles, one triple, five home runs, 28 RBI, 34 runs scored, and a .746 OPS in 87 games this season, making 62 starts as the designated hitter and five in left field. Signed by Boston as an international free agent in December 2022, the Japan native has hit .280 (383-for-1,366) with 81 doubles, four triples, 34 home runs, 182 RBI, and a .759 OPS in 390 career Major League games, all with the Red Sox (2023-26).

Slaten, 28, has posted a 4.60 ERA (16 ER/31.1 IP) with 39 strikeouts in 36 relief appearances for Boston this year. The right-hander has also tossed 2.0 scoreless innings over two outings between Double-A Portland (one game) and Triple-A Worcester (one game). Originally selected by the Texas Rangers in the third round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the Texas native owns a 3.73 ERA (50 ER/120.2 IP) with 122 strikeouts, a 1.13 WHIP, and .235 opponent batting average (109-for-464) in 116 career Major League games, all with the Red Sox (2024-26).

Gasper, 30, has batted .337 (66-for-196) with 18 doubles, nine home runs, 42 RBI, 42 walks, 41 runs scored, a .450 on-base percentage, and a 1.016 OPS in 54 games for Worcester this season. The switch-hitter has also played in 34 games for Boston this year, hitting .243 (26-for-107) with five doubles, one triple, and seven RBI, while making 13 starts as the designated hitter, 12 at catcher, and two at first base. Originally selected by the New York Yankees in the 27th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft, the New Hampshire native has hit .186 (41-for-220) with two home runs and 18 RBI in 92 career Major League games for the Red Sox (2024, 2026) and Minnesota Twins (2025).

Burgos, 27, has pitched in 16 games (14 starts) for Worcester this season, recording a 5.54 ERA (40 ER/65.0 IP) with 54 strikeouts. The left-hander has also made two appearances for Boston this year, allowing two runs over 6.0 innings with four strikeouts. Originally selected by Cleveland in the 18th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Puerto Rico native owns a 3.72 ERA (149 ER/360.1 IP) with 360 strikeouts in 160 career minor league games (36 starts) and has allowed three runs over 7.0 innings in three career Major League games with the San Francisco Giants (2024) and Red Sox (2026).
