Red Sox Recall LHP Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today recalled left-handed pitcher Raymond Burgos from Triple-A Worcester. To make room, Boston optioned right-handed pitcher Jedixson Paez to Triple-A Worcester after last night’s game against the Seattle Mariners.
Burgos, 27, owns a 5.84 ERA (8 ER/12.1 IP) in four appearances for Boston this season. He has also pitched in 17 games (15 starts) for Worcester, recording a 5.14 ERA (40 ER/70.0 IP) with 58 strikeouts. Originally selected by Cleveland in the 18th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Puerto Rico native owns a 6.08 ERA (9 ER/13.1 IP) in five career Major League games with the San Francisco Giants (2024) and Red Sox (2026).
Paez, 22, allowed eight runs across 3.2 innings last night against the Mariners in his first career start. He has pitched in four Major League games (one start) this season with the Chicago White Sox (three games) and Red Sox (one start), his Major League debut, allowing 14 runs with three strikeouts over 6.2 innings. The right-hander has also posted a 4.11 ERA (28 ER/61.1 IP) with 74 strikeouts in 20 games (10 starts) between Double-A Portland (17 games, seven starts) and Triple-A Worcester (three starts) this season. Signed by Boston as an international free agent in January 2021, the Venezuela native owns a 3.37 ERA (138 ER/369.0 IP) with a 1.06 WHIP and 381 strikeouts in 93 career minor league games (68 starts).
