RED SOX REINSTATE FIRST BASEMAN NATHANIEL LOWE FROM PATERNITY LIST
BOSTON, MA—The Boston Red Sox today reinstated first baseman Nathaniel Lowe from the Paternity List. To make room, Boston optioned infielder/outfielder Nick Sogard to Triple-A Worcester.
Lowe, 30, was signed by the Red Sox on August 18, and has hit .296 (8-for-27) with five runs scored and seven RBI in nine games for Boston. Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 13th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft, the Virginia native has batted .263 (776-for-2,945) in 814 career Major League games with the Rays (2019-20), Texas Rangers (2021-24), Washington Nationals (2025), and Red Sox (2025).
Sogard, 27, has played in 18 games for Boston this season, batting .242 (15-for-62) with 10 runs scored while making 11 starts at first base, three at second base, and two at third base. The switch-hitter has also played in 90 games for Worcester, batting .271 (91-for-336) with 22 doubles, five home runs, and 61 runs scored. Originally selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 12th round of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the California native has batted .259 (36-for-139) in 49 career Major League games, all with the Red Sox (2024-25), making 14 starts at second base, 11 at first base, eight at third base, and six at shortstop.
