Rule 5 Selection OF Mark Payton Returned to Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. -- ­­­­The Oakland A’s announced today that outfielder Mark Payton, who was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2019 Rule 5 Draft has been returned to the A's organization. Payton will be added to the A’s player pool at their alternate site in San Jose.

Payton was originally drafted by the New York Yankees in the seventh round of the 2014 First Year Player Draft and was acquired by Oakland in the minor league portion of the 2018 Rule 5 Draft. He batted .334 with 30 home runs and 97 RBI in 118 games with Triple-A Las Vegas last year and hit .273 with four RBI in 14 games for the Reds this spring.
