Texas Rangers Academy Notebook for Jan. 23, 2026: Texas Rangers Youth Academy hosts Martin Luther King Jr. Day baseball clinic with Rangers shortstop Corey Seager

The Texas Rangers Youth Academy hosted the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Clinic presented by Coca-Cola on Jan. 19, providing free training designed to help Academy athletes prepare for their upcoming high school seasons while honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

More than 50 Academy athletes participated in the clinic, rotating through instructional stations focused on hitting, fielding and agility, plus a question and answer station with Ranger players and alumni.

Rangers shortstop Corey Seager served as a special guest for the event, working alongside Youth Academy staff and offering guidance to participants. Seager was joined by catching coach Brett Hayes, as well as Rangers alumni Jerry Browne and Ellis Velentine, who assisted with on-field instruction and mentorship.

All participants received a commemorative clinic shirt, a case of Powerade and the chance to take a photo with Seager at the conclusion of the clinic.
