Texas Rangers Do Not Tender 2019 Contracts to Four Players

Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced this evening that the club will not tender 2019 contract offers to pitchers Matt Bush, Zac Curtis, Ricardo Rodríguez and Adrian Sampson before tonight's 7:00 p.m. CST deadline.u5:p

The team has tendered 2019 contract offers to all other players on the Major League roster.u5:p

Bush did not appear in a game after June 14 last season and underwent season-ending surgery on September 19 to repair a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. Curtis spent the entire month of September with Texas after he was received on a waiver claim from Philadelphia on August 7, combining for a 4.96 ERA in 15 games overall between the Rangers and Phillies. u5:p

Rodríguez allowed 3 R-ER over 6.2 IP in 4 relief appearances across 2 stints with the Rangers in 2018. He was on the major league 60-day disabled list from March 26-May 29 with right biceps tendinitis, and did not pitch after August 5 due to a right shoulder impingement. Sampson was 0-3 with a 4.30 ERA over 5 games/4 starts with the Rangers in September, his first Major League action since 2016.u5:p
Following today's transactions, the Rangers now have 34 players on the club's Major league Roster.u5:p
