Reds Hall of Fame announces Tom Browning Scholarship recipients
The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore is proud to announce the recipients of the 2026 Tom Browning Scholarships.
This year’s $5,000 scholarships will be awarded to standout pitchers Kaitlyn Dixon of Highlands High School (softball) and Tyler Schumacher of Campbell County High School (baseball).
Since 2024, the Tom Browning Scholarships have been awarded annually to one high school baseball pitcher and one high school softball pitcher from the Tri-State area who demonstrate excellence on the field and in the classroom and exhibit outstanding leadership and a commitment to community service.
Kaitlyn Dixon – Highlands High School (softball)
Dixon graduated from Highlands with a 4.24 weighted GPA and earned numerous honors during her senior season, including 2026 Cincinnati Enquirer Kentucky/Indiana Player of the Year, Northern Kentucky Coaches Association 9th Region Player of the Year, Northern Kentucky Softball Coaches Association Division I Player of the Year, and First Team All-State recognition. She will continue her academic and athletic career at Thomas More University.
Tyler Schumacher – Campbell County High School (baseball)
Schumacher graduated from Campbell County with a 3.88 weighted GPA and was one of Kentucky’s top high school pitchers. His honors include Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association First Team All-State (2025 and 2026), Kentucky High School Athletic Association State Tournament All-Tournament Team (2026), 10th Region Player of the Year (2025 and 2026), Prep Baseball Report First Team All-State (2026), and FOX19 Baxla Tractor Athlete of the Month (May 2026). He entered the state tournament with an 8-1 record and a 1.03 ERA. Schumacher will attend Marshall University.
Kaitlyn and Tyler will be recognized during a pregame ceremony before the Reds take on the Athletics on August 5 at Great American Ball Park.
The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum will also recognize the 2025 Tom Browning Scholarship recipients during the ceremony: Chasidy Stewart, Bellbrook High School (softball); Cole Wells, Lynchburg-Clay High School (baseball)
About the Tom Browning Scholarship
The Tom Browning Scholarship Fund was established in 2023 to perpetuate Browning’s legacy, both as a Reds Hall of Fame pitcher and as an ambassador for the Reds and the game of baseball. Tom Browning pitched the only perfect game in Reds history on September 16, 1988, and was a key member of the 1990 World Championship team. He played for Reds from 1984-1993, was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in 2006 and passed away in 2022 at the age of 62.
