Twins announce 2019 Spanish language broadcast schedule

The Minnesota Twins today announced a change in their distribution of Spanish language broadcasts, as well as the 2019 broadcast schedule. Beginning this season, the Twins’ Spanish language broadcasts will be delivered, live and free of charge, through the home page of Twinsbeisbol.com. The 2019 campaign will feature 50 games that can be heard on Twinsbeisbol.com, along with the Secondary Audio Program (SAP) option on the Twins’ television partner, FOX Sports North.

The Twins, who in 2006 became the first professional sports team in the Twin Cities market to broadcast their games in Spanish, remain the only local franchise to do so in 2019. The club’s 2019 Spanish language broadcast schedule will consist primarily of Sunday and Tuesday games throughout the season, and will be highlighted by broadcasts for Opening Day (March 28th at 3:10 p.m. CT against the Cleveland Indians), Diversity Day (August 20th at 7:10 p.m. CT vs. the Chicago White Sox) and Minnesota’s final game of the regular season (September 29th at 2:15 p.m. CT against the Kansas City Royals). A complete 2019 Spanish language broadcast schedule is attached.

“The Minnesota Twins Spanish Language broadcast has always been a key initiative as we continue to strive for inclusion across Twins Territory,” Twins Broadcast Manager Andrew Halverson said. “In 2019, we are excited about the potential to expand our reach as these broadcasts evolve to the digital platform on Twinsbeisbol.com. In partnership with Major League Baseball, we believe Twinsbeisbol.com will become a one-stop shop for the Latino Community seeking Twins Spanish Language news, stories and now our game broadcasts.”

Returning to the broadcast booth for their 14th season together in 2019 are Twins Hall of Famer and analyst Tony Oliva, and play-by-play announcer Alfonso Fernandez. All 50 broadcasts will include 15-minute pre- and post-game shows, which feature exclusive interviews with players from the Twins organization and across the league.

Tickets for the Twins’ Opening Day game on March 28th against the Cleveland Indians at Target Field are on sale now, as well as single-game tickets for the balance of the 2019 season.
