Twins Homestand Highlights: Aug. 28-Sept. 2

MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins return to Target Field tonight for their 11th homestand of the season, looking to move up in the American League playoff races during a crucial six-game stay against a pair of AL Central division foes. Tonight, Minnesota welcomes the division-leading Chicago White Sox for three games through Sunday, August 30. Then on Monday, August 31, the Twins will host the Detroit Tigers for three games through Wednesday, September 2.

The moment fans across Twins Territory have been waiting for is here – Walker Jenkins, Twins top prospect and the No. 15 overall prospect in baseball per MLB.com, is due to make his major league debut tonight against the White Sox at Target Field. Jenkins was selected in the first round (fifth overall) by Minnesota in the 2023 MLB First-Year Player Draft and has hit .411 (30-for-73) with 11 extra-base hits, 13 RBI and a 1.283 OPS in 18 August games for the Triple-A St. Paul Saints.

The Tuesday, September 1 game vs. the Tigers will be televised on Twins.TV presented by Progressive and simulcast via free over-the-air television in the Twin Cities on FOX 9 and throughout Twins Territory on select Gray Media stations.

Friday, August 28 vs. Chicago White Sox (7:10 p.m.; gates open at 5:00 p.m.)

• UnitedHealthcare Community Champion of the Homestand: Prior to Saturday's game, the Twins will recognize Jerry Sparby as the UnitedHealthcare Community Champion of the Homestand. For more than 55 years, Jerry has dedicated his life to helping students know they matter, they belong and they are loved, through his work with various school districts and later as the creator of HuddlUp, a classroom program that helps students build meaningful peer relationships, strengthen their mental wellness, and develop healthy ways to manage stress. He began his career with over 30 years at the Rockville, Cold Spring, and Richmond School Districts as an elementary school principal, where he led with compassion and a deep commitment to his students. After retiring as a principal, Jerry continued investing in future generations by teaching aspiring educators at St. Cloud State University.
• Special Olympic Recognition: On Saturday, the Twins will welcome over 150 Team Minnesota participants from the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, held in the Twin Cities. Team Minnesota won 136 medals at the Games, the most of any state.
  • Ceremonial First Pitches: Ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by track and field gold medalist Jake Lieser and by four-time powerlifting gold medalist Dimitri Johnson.

Sunday, August 30 vs. Chicago White Sox presented by U.S. Bank (1:10 p.m.; gates open at 11:00 a.m.)

• Gate Giveaway - Kids T.C. Bear Shoulder Mascot: The first 5,000 kids 12 and under through the Target Field gates on Saturday will receive a Kids T.C. Bear Shoulder Mascot presented by U.S. Bank.
• Dave St. Peter Pregame Recognition: On the field prior to Sunday's game, the Twins will recognize longtime club executive Dave St. Peter as the winner of the 2025 Terry Ryan Award, in recognition of his role as a driving force in growing baseball and softball throughout the Upper Midwest for more than three decades.

  • Welcome to Target Field: On Wednesday night, the Twins will welcome hundreds of patients and their families to Target Field, for a night of fun at the ballpark.
  • Pregame Ceremonies: The Twins will recognize the works of nonprofit organizations including HopeKids, INDY Foundation, and more on the field prior to the game.
  • Ceremonial First Run and Ceremonial First Pitch: Patients will get to participate in a special ceremonial first run and throw out a ceremonial first pitch.
  • Kids Starting Lineup: A special kids starting lineup comprised of cancer patients will take the field alongside the Twins.
  • Videoboard Drawings: Instead of the traditional headshots, the Twins will be represented on the videoboard by drawings from local pediatric cancer patients.
