Twins place Aaron Slegers on disabled list

Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN - The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have placed right-handed pitcher Aaron Slegers on the 10-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation (retro to July 11). Slegers made two starts for the Twins recently, going 1-1 with a 7.36 ERA (7.1 IP, 6 ER), one walk and two strikeouts.
To replace Slegers on the 25-man roster, the Twins will recall right-handed pitcher Fernando Romero from Triple-A Rochester. Romero made 10 starts earlier this season for the Twins, going 3-3 with a 4.38 ERA (51.1 IP, 25 ER), 19 walks and 44 strikeouts. During his recent stint with Rochester, Romero made three starts, going 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA (18.2 IP, 3 ER), seven walks and 15 strikeouts. He is expected to start tomorrow afternoon vs. Tampa Bay.
