Twins Select Contract of Walker Jenkins
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN – The Minnesota Twins announced today that they have selected the contract of outfielder Walker Jenkins from Triple-A St. Paul.
Jenkins, who has been ranked as the club’s top prospect for each of the last three seasons (2024-26), played in 69 games for Triple-A St. Paul this season, hitting .308 (81-for-263) with 17 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 28 RBI, 51 runs scored, 42 walks, 17 stolen bases, a .407 on-base percentage, a .532 slugging percentage and a .939 OPS. In 18 games this month, the 21-year-old has posted a slashline of .411/.488/.795 (1.283 OPS) with 30 hits and eight home runs, ranking second among all Triple-A players in batting average (.411), slugging percentage (.795) and OPS (1.283), fourth in total bases (58), tied for fourth in home runs (8), and fifth in on-base percentage (.488).
The 2026 Futures Game participant entered the season ranked as the fifth-best prospect in baseball by Baseball America, 14th-best by MLB.com and 19th-best by Baseball Prospectus. The 6-foot-3, 210-pound outfielder also entered the season tabbed as the best hitter and best athlete in Minnesota’s organization by Baseball America. Over parts of four seasons in the Twins minor league system, Jenkins has hit .303 (302-for-997) with 62 doubles, 13 triples, 33 home runs, 145 RBI, 179 runs scored and an .894 OPS in 265 games. He was selected by Minnesota with the fifth overall pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of South Brunswick High School in Southport, North Carolina. Jenkins will be in uniform for tonight’s game against the Chicago White Sox at Target Field, wearing uniform number 11 and looking to make his major league debut.
To make room for Jenkins on the 26-man roster, the Twins have optioned outfielder Alan Roden to St. Paul. In 28 games for the Twins this season, Roden hit .254 (17-for-67) with four doubles, 10 RBI and nine walks.
To make room on the 40-man roster, the Twins have designated right-handed pitcher Woosuk Go for release or assignment. Go appeared in eight games for the Saints, going 2-1 with a 12.54 ERA (9.1 IP, 13 ER), 11 walks and nine strikeouts.
