Variety and Royals Charities to unveil new adaptive playground Tuesday

Variety Children's Charity of Greater Kansas City, along with the Royals and Royals Charities, will unveil a new adaptive playground in Leawood, Kan. The opening of the new playground will take place after a dedication ceremony beginning at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
The playground and ceremony are located at Leawood City Park, 10601 Lee Blvd., Leawood, Kan.
The all-inclusive playground has been designed so both children and adults can play together regardless of their physical or mental abilities. Last year, Royals Charities granted $60,000 to the non-profit organization through the Royals Charities grant program. The organizations have partnered on various other projects throughout the last few years including adaptive baseball/softball fields and clinics.
"Royals Charities is behind so many of the inclusive efforts that have made the Kansas City area a nationwide leader in inclusive living," said Variety of Kansas City Executive Director Deb Wiebrecht. "Once again, Royals Charities has partnered with Variety KC on a project benefiting all kids in our area. Variety KC is grateful for the generosity and compassion repeatedly demonstrated by Royals Charities, truly believing all kids should 'Be Active, Be Social and Belong!'"
