Walker Jenkins and Adrian Bohorquez Named 2026 Twins Minor League Player and Pitcher of the Year
MINNEAPOLIS-ST. PAUL, MN — The Minnesota Twins announced today that outfielder Walker Jenkins has been named the 2026 Sherry Robertson Award winner as the Twins minor league Player of the Year and right-handed pitcher Adrian Bohorquez has been named the 2026 Jim Rantz Award winner as the Twins minor league Pitcher of the Year.
Jenkins, 21, hit .308 (81-for-263) with 17 doubles, three triples, 12 home runs, 28 RBI, 42 walks, 17 stolen bases, 51 runs scored, a .407 on-base percentage and a .939 OPS in 69 games for Triple-A St. Paul during the 2026 minor league season, around a stint on the 7-day Injured List from May 5-June 22. In his fourth professional season, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound outfielder led all Twins farmhands (minimum of 300 plate appearances) in on-base percentage and was second in OPS. Jenkins was named to the American League team in the 2026 All-Star Futures Game, starting in centerfield and going 0-for-2 with two walks and one run scored in the AL’s 6-1 win at Citizens Bank Park. He was a three-time Twins minor league Player of the Week (July 5, August 9 and August 23) and was named a 2026 International League Postseason All-Star for his blistering second half, in which he hit .335 (58-for-173) with 11 doubles, three triples, 10 home runs, 19 RBI, 23 walks, 12 stolen bases, 36 runs scored, a .413 on-base percentage and a 1.020 OPS in 44 games for the Saints. Jenkins had his contract selected by the Twins on August 28 and made his major league debut that night. He hit .226 (19-for-84) with two doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI, seven walks and 14 runs scored in 26 games for the Twins, including slashing .385/.400/.615 in his last 10 games.
The Wilmington, North Carolina native was selected by the Twins in the first round (fifth overall) of the 2023 First-Year Player Draft out of South Brunswick High School in Southport, North Carolina. He is currently ranked as the No. 1 prospect in the Twins organization and the No. 13 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB.com.
Bohorquez, 21, went 2-1 with a 3.23 ERA (55.2 IP, 20 ER), 31 walks, 65 strikeouts, a 1.24 WHIP and a .186 opponent batting average in 16 games (15 starts) for High-A Cedar Rapids and Double-A Wichita in the 2026 minor league season, missing time on the 7-day Injured List from April 20-June 22. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound righty allowed 10 earned runs in 8.0 innings across his first three outings from April 4-17 for the Kernels prior to being placed on the Injured List. When he returned, he went 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA (30.2 IP, 8 ER) with 15 walks, 35 strikeouts and a .167 opponent batting average in nine games (8 starts) for Cedar Rapids from June 27-August 20, earning a promotion to Double-A. Bohorquez then finished the season on a dominant note with the Wind Surge, going 1-1 with a 1.06 ERA (17.0 IP, 2 ER), seven walks, 18 strikeouts and a .148 opponent batting average in his final four starts of the season. For his efforts, he was named Twins minor league Pitcher of the Week in back-to-back weeks, on August 23 and August 30.
The La Victoria, Venezuela native was signed by the Twins as a minor league free agent in January 2023. He is currently ranked as the No. 18 prospect in the Twins organization and fifth-best pitcher, per MLB.com.
The Sherry Robertson Award, named in honor of the Twins’ first farm director, was established in 1970 to recognize the top Twins minor league performer (player or pitcher) each season; since 2002, the award has strictly recognized the Twins Minor League Player of the Year. In 2002, the Twins Minor League Pitcher of the Year Award was established, named in honor of former Twins Minor League Director and Twins Hall of Famer Jim Rantz.
Additionally, the 2026 Riccardo Ingram Award – given to the Twins minor leaguer who best exemplifies the four tenets of the Twins Tradition, passion, heart, hustle and fun – honoree is catcher Irvin Nuñez. Catcher Noah Cardenas, infielder Ben Ross and outfielder Garrett Spain have also been named Twins minor league Defensive Award winners, with outfielder Merphy Hernandez won the Baserunning Award.
