White Sox place James Shields on 10-day disabled list
Prior to tonight's game vs. Cleveland, the Chicago White Sox placed right-handed pitcher James Shields on the 10-day disabled list (retroactive to April 18) with a strained right lat.
Shields, 35, is 1-0 with a 1.62 ERA (3 ER/16.2 IP) and 16 strikeouts over three starts this season, his second with the White Sox. He ranks fifth in the American League in opponents average (.153) and ninth in ERA.
The White Sox will make a corresponding roster move prior to tomorrow's game against the Indians.
