Yankees Roster Moves - 1/27/26
Earlier today, the Yankees made the following roster moves:
- Claimed RHP Dom Hamel off waivers from the Texas Rangers.
- Designated LHP Jayvien Sandridge and INF/OF Marco Luciano for assignment.
Hamel, 26, made his Major League debut in 2025 for the New York Mets, appearing in one game on September 17 vs. San Diego and tossing a scoreless inning in relief (3H, 1HP). He spent the majority of the season with Triple-A Syracuse, going 4-6 with one save and a 5.32 ERA (67.2IP, 68H, 42R/40ER, 22BB, 75K, 12HR) in 31 games (11 starts).
Over parts of five minor league seasons in the Mets organization (2021-25), Hamel went 27-24 with one save and a 4.72 ERA (438.1IP, 400H, 239R/230ER, 202BB, 511K, 52HR) in 111 games (89 starts). He was named the Mets’ Minor League “Pitcher of the Year” in 2022.
The Chandler, Ariz., native was originally selected by the New York Mets in the third round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of Dallas Baptist University (Tex.). Hamel was designated for assignment by the Mets on September 18, 2025 and claimed off waivers by the Baltimore Orioles on September 20, 2025. He was designated for assignment by Baltimore on September 25, 2025 and claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers on September 27, 2025. Hamel was designated for assignment by Texas on January 20, 2026.
