Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has been added to Team USA’s roster for the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
USA Baseball announced Buxton’s participation Monday on social media. This will be his World Baseball Classic debut.

A native of Baxley, Ga., the 32-year-old joins a star-studded roster lined up to represent the United States. Aaron Judge, Gunnar Henderson, Corbin Carroll, Kyle Schwarber, Tarik Skubal, Paul Skenes and Mason Miller are among the other stars who have committed to play for Team USA at the sixth iteration of the World Baseball Classic in March.
Buxton, who has spent his entire career with the Twins after being selected by Minnesota with the second overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, is coming off one of his best seasons.
Although he missed time with a concussion and left rib-cage inflammation, Buxton recorded career highs in homers (35), RBIs (83) and runs scored (97) with 24 steals and a .264/.327/.551 slash line over 126 games. He earned his first Silver Slugger Award as a result.
Team USA will begin its WBC run in Pool B play at 8 p.m. ET on March 6, when it will face Brazil inside Houston’s Daikin Park.
