Ford, a sensation for Great Britain in 2023 Classic, plans to run it back in '26
Ford, who was born in Atlanta but holds dual citizenship because both of his parents hail from the United Kingdom, has announced his intention to once again play for Great Britain at the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
It was Ford’s strong showing at the 2022 Regensburg Qualifiers that helped Great Britain earn its first trip to the World Baseball Classic. He carried that momentum into the tournament, hitting .308 with two home runs, a double, four RBIs and a 1.246 OPS across four games.
At the time, the catcher was a top prospect for the Mariners with no professional experience above High-A. Continuing to progress through Seattle’s system, Ford made his MLB debut this past September, appearing in eight games during the regular season and one in the playoffs.
