BILOXI, MS– Mark Coley II played hero for the Biloxi Shuckers (53-42, 18-12) with a three-run walk-off home run in the 10th inning, giving the Shuckers a comeback 9-8 win over the Montgomery Biscuits (50-48, 15-14) at Keesler Federal Park on Thursday night. The walk-off was Coley’s second of the season, and the Shuckers first walk-off home run since August 15, 2024, when Zavier Warren achieved the feat with a two-run blast against the Mississippi Braves. Josiah Ragsdale also continued his terror at the plate with his second multi-home run game over the last week, giving him 10 home runs across his last 10 games. Ragsdale became the 17th Southern League hitter since 2005 to record 10 home runs in a month, joining teammate Blake Burke as the first to achieve the feat since Joe Mack in June, 2024.
The Shuckers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with Ragsdale’s first home run of the game, a 109 MPH, 417-foot blast to center. The Shuckers later extended the lead to 4-0 in the fifth with a two-run home run from David Garcia and a 441-foot solo home run to left-center from Josiah Ragsdale. The Biscuits then stormed back with a sacrifice fly from Will Simpson in the sixth, an RBI single in the seventh from Brayden Taylor and a solo home run in the eighth from Kamren James, making it 4-3. In the eighth, Andrew Fischer made it a two-run game with a sacrifice fly to right, scoring Daniel Guilarte from third. With two outs in the ninth, the Biscuits tied the game on back-to-back home runs from Xavier Isaac and Will Simpson. The Biscuits took an 8-5 lead in the 10th with RBI singles from Karen James and Mac Horvath and a sacrifice fly from Caden Bodine. The Shuckers made it 8-6 in the bottom of the inning with an RBI single from Josh Adamczewski and then ended the game with a walk-off, three-run home run from Mark Coley II. Stiven Cruz (4-1) earned the win while Jonny Cuevas (2-1) took the loss.
Josiah Ragsdale (2-for-4), Jesús Made (2-for-5) and Mark Coley II (2-for-4) each recorded multi-hit performances for the Shuckers. On the mound, starter Jaron DeBerry lowered his ERA to 4.48, the third-best mark in the Southern League, with one run and five strikeouts over 5.2 innings.
The series continues on Thursday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Jaron DeBerry (7-5, 4.67) is slated to start for the Shuckers against TJ Nichols (0-4, 6.10) for the Biscuits. Coverage begins at 6:15 p.m. with the On-Deck Show on the Biloxi Shuckers Radio Network and The Hype 100.9.
