HUNTSVILLE, AL – Behind 5.0 innings of one-run ball from starter Manuel Rodriguez and Luis Peña’s first Double-A home run, the Biloxi Shuckers (56-57, 21-27) snapped their 13-game skid with a 4-2 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas (59-57, 24-24) at Toyota Field on Thursday night. Garrett Hodges recorded the final six outs of the game, earning his first Double-A save.

The Shuckers took a 3-0 lead in the first with a sacrifice fly from Andrew Fischer and a two-RBI single from Braylon Payne. The Trash Pandas made it 3-1 in the second on a solo home run from Tucker Flint to right-center. The Shuckers scored their final run in the third on a solo home run to left from Luis Peña, his first at the Double-A level. The Trash Pandas made it 4-2 in the ninth with an RBI fielder’s choice from Juan Flores, scoring Jake Munroe from third. Manuel Rodriguez (11-4) earned the win after allowing one run over 5.0 innings while Jose Gonzalez (3-4) took the loss. Rodriguez’s 11th win put him in a tie for the second-most wins in a single season in Shuckers franchise history. Garrett Hodges struck out three over the final 2.0 innings for the save, including one to Anthony Scull with runners on the corners in the ninth to end the game.

At the plate, Luis Peña (2-for-4) recorded the lone multi-hit performance for the Shuckers. Manuel Rodriguez, Anthony Flores and Garrett Hodges combined to limit the Trash Pandas to 1-for-12 with runners in scoring position and stranded 15 runners.

The series continues on Friday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. at Toyota Field. Bishop Letson (5-6, 4.66) is slated to start for the Shuckers against Kyle Robinson (1-2, 6.00) for the Trash Pandas.
