Shuckers Fall to Biscuits on Saturday Night

Ragsdale slams 12th Double-A home run in loss

BILOXI, MS– The Biloxi Shuckers (54-43, 19-13) fell to the Montgomery Biscuits (51-49, 16-15), 17-8, at Keesler Federal Park on Saturday night. Despite the loss, the Shuckers recorded three home runs, upping their total to 30 across the last eight games. The teams combined for 25 runs, 32 hits and nine home runs.

The Biscuits took an early 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI double from Theo Gillen, scoring Caden Bodine. The Shuckers tied the game in the second with a solo home run from Josh Adamczewski, but the Biscuits retook the lead with a solo home run from Austin Overn in the third. The Shuckers jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the third with a five-run inning, including a Matthew Wood solo home run, a two-RBI single from Josh Adamczewski and a two-RBI single from Mike Boeve. The Biscuits clawed back to make it a 6-5 game with an error in the fifth that allowed Gregory Barrios to score and back-to-back home runs from Will Simpson and Cooper Kinney in the sixth. Josiah Ragsdale made it 8-5 with his fifth home run across the last six games, a solo shot to left, making it 8-5. In the seventh, the Biscuits erupted for a seven-run inning, including an error that allowed Émilien Pitre to score, RBI singles from Cooper Kinney and Kenny Piper, a two-RBI single from Gregory Barrios and a two-run home run from Austin Overn. In the eighth, the Biscuits extended the lead to 17-8 with a grand slam from Cooper Kinney and a solo home run from Kenny Piper. 

Hayden Snelsire (4-3) earned the win for the Biscuits, while Jesús Broca (3-4) took the loss for the Shuckers. At the plate, Josiah Ragsdale (2-for-5, 2 RBI), Josh Adamczewski (2-for-3, 3 RBI) and Matthew Wood (2-for-3, RBI) each recorded a multi-hit performance.

The series concludes on Sunday, with first pitch scheduled for 5:05 p.m. The Shuckers conclude their homestand with Family Sunday presented by Chicken Salad Chick.
