COLUMBUS, GA – The Biloxi Shuckers (55-48, 20-18) fell to the Columbus Clingstones (49-53, 20-18), 7-0, at Synovus Park on Saturday night. Despite the loss, Blake Burke extended his on-base streak to a career-best 25 games with a ninth-inning single.
The Clingstones struck first with a three-run home run from Owen Carey in the third, his first at the Double-A level. In the sixth, the lead extended to 5-0 with a two-run blast from Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. In the eighth, Kilpatrick struck again with a two-RBI single, making it 7-0.
Garett Baumann (4-4) earned the win for the Clingstones while Travis Smith (0-3) took the loss. At the plate, Marco Dinges (1-for-3, BB) was the lone Shuckers hitter to reach base multiple times. On the mound, Chandler Welch tied his season-high with 4.0 relief innings.
