
MADISON, AL – The Biloxi Shuckers (56-60, 21-30) finished their series with the Rocket City Trash Pandas (62-57, 27-24) with three straight losses, capped off by an 8-1 final Sunday afternoon at Toyota Field. The Biloxi starter J.D. Thompson struck out seven for his second start in the series and fanned 15 over his two tilts against the Rocket City.
The Trash Pandas put up a pair of runs in the first on back-to-back RBI base knocks from Caleb Bartolero and Eddie Micheletti Jr. The Shuckers cut that deficit in half courtesy of a Jheremy Vargas RBI single in the sixth. Rocket City ripped off six runs over the next two innings, including four in the sixth on run-scoring doubles from Cole Fontenelle and Mac McCroskey, and consecutive singles from Anthony Scull and Jake Munroe which made it 6-1. Randy De Jesus drove in two more in the seventh on his first Double-A home run.
Luis Peña picked up his seventh hit in Double-A, and has reached safely in all six games as a Shucker.
Eybersson Polanco picked up his fifth win of the season, while J.D. Thompson (0-3) was tagged with the loss.
The Shuckers are idle on Monday before they conclude their regular season home slate with 12 consecutive games at Keesler Federal Park, starting with the Knoxville Smokies (Chicago Cubs) on Tuesday, August 25.
