Fort Wayne (49-65, 22-26) opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning with five runs on four hits as eight batters came to the plate. The first four batters of the inning reached, with Yoiber Ocopio getting the 'Caps on the board with a flair RBI single on the infield.

Yimy Tovar, in his High-A debut, recorded his first High-A hit and RBI in his first plate appearance with a single into left field. Two batters later, Conner Westenburg roped his first High-A extra-base hit with a two-run triple into right-center field to put the TinCaps up 4-0. Kasen Wells closed out the scoring with an RBI groundout to first.

Great Lakes (63-50, 27-22) answered with a five-run inning of their own in the fourth frame. The Loons sent all nine batters to the plate, getting on the board with a bases-loaded sacrifice fly by Victor Rodrigues. Three batters later, Emil Morales (No. 24 MLB prospect/No. 4 Dodgers prospect) hit his second grand slam of the season onto The Summit to tie the game.

The hero of the night was Fort Wayne third baseman Kerrington Cross, who collected a career-high four hits, all singles. Cross gave the 'Caps the lead for good with a go-ahead RBI single into right field, scoring Bradley Frye.

With the bases loaded and two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Cross laid out on a slow roller, popped up to his feet, and fired a strike to first to end the game.
