FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne TinCaps completed the 19th one-hitter in franchise history on Thursday night in a 3-0 shutout win over the West Michigan Whitecaps (Tigers affiliate).

TinCaps (46-57, 19-18) starting pitcher Carson Montgomery (No. 30 Padres prospect) earned the win after a career-long six innings in the first quality start of his professional career. The seventh quality start by a Fort Wayne pitcher this season, Montgomery gave up just one hit and two walks while striking out three. He tossed 35 of 64 pitches for strikes.

West Michigan (45-58, 21-18) starter Lucas Elissalt (No. 22 Tigers prospect) was tabbed with the loss despite retiring the first 13 batters he faced. The 2024 13th-round pick struck out six across five innings, allowing two hits.

The lone two hits came in back-to-back fashion and broke a scoreless tie in the fifth. Following a Rosman Verdugo single, Lamar Kinr Jr. (No. 12 Padres prospect) launched his fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot to left-center field. It was King's first home run since May 20 vs. Dayton and his first extra-base hit since May 27 at South Bend.

Two innings later, Kerrington Cross went the other way with his fourth High-A home run, curling it inside the right-field foul pole to go up 3-0.

Right-hander Carlos Medina earned his first Minor League save, retiring all nine batters he faced. The 21-year-old struck out a High-A high six batters, including striking out the side in the ninth inning.

The win marks the TinCaps' fifth shutout win of the season and first since July 18's 2-0 win in 11 innings over Lansing. At one hour and 50 minutes, Thursday was the quickest nine-inning game for Fort Wayne this season.
