MIDLAND, Mich. – The Fort Wayne TinCaps saw their five-game winning streak come to an end in their 11-1 loss to the Great Lakes Loons (Dodgers affiliate) at Dow Diamond on Thursday night.
Fort Wayne (43-55, 16-16) scored their lone run with two outs in the ninth inning on an RBI single to the opposite field from left fielder Kasen Wells. The 22-year-old has reached base in every game this week and has driven in three in the last two nights after bringing home a pair in Wednesday night’s 5-4 win in 10 innings.
Great Lakes (55-41, 19-13) put together three multi-run innings in their first win of the week, scoring three in the fourth and seventh frames before plating five in the eighth.
Left fielder Chuck Davalan (MLB No. 82/Dodgers No. 8 prospect) went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles, extending his hitting streak to nine games. In the stretch, Davalan has at least two hits or more in every contest.
Shortstop Emil Morales (MLB No. 24/Dodgers No. 4 prospect) reached base safely in all five plate appearances, collecting base hits in the first and third innings. Morales has a knock in his last eight games and is batting .353 in 19 showings this month.
Right-hander Hyun-Seok Jang picked up the win for the Loons in his High-A debut. Jang tossed a quality start, not giving up a run in six innings. The righty allowed three hits and struck out eight without walking a batter.
