WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - The BlueClaws swept a double-header from Hudson Valley on Saturday night, winning the first game 2-0 and the second game 14-6 with an eight run first inning.
Jersey Shore has now taken four of five in the series from the Renegades with one game left on Sunday.
Game One
The BlueClaws won game one 209 behind another dominant outing from Ramon Marquez. The 20 year old right-hander gave up three hits and a walk while fanning seven over five scoreless innings to earn his third win.
In six starts with the BlueClaws, he has allowed six runs in 30 innings with 46 strikeout.
Titan Kennedy-Hayes got the last six outs for his first save of the year.
Both runs came in the second inning. Kodey Shojinaga singled home one and the second scored on a safety squeeze from Trent Farquhar one batter later.
Game Two
The BlueClaws scored eight runs in the first inning of game two, setting a new season high for runs in an inning. It was the most runs they scored in the first inning since eight runs at Asheville on Opening Day of the 2010 season.
Tyler Pettorini got the scoring started with an RBI single. Daunte Stuart added one of his own. Scott Mudler, playing his first game with the BlueClaws, doubled in two, then Kodey Shojinaga singled home one.
Finally, Carter Mathison smashed a three run home run to cap the inning. It was Mathison's 11th home run of the season, nine of which have come since June 16th.
The BlueClaws tacked on five more runs in the third inning. Nick Biddison had an RBI single and Devin Saltiban drove in two with a single as well.
BlueClaws starter Juan Amarante gave up one run in 2.2 innings.
Biddison and Pettorini had three hits apiece in game two, while Devin Saltiban and Kodey Shojinaga each had two.
Tanner Gresham starts on Sunday in the final game of the series with a 2:05 pm first pitch.
