Gresham Sharp, But Claws Fall 1-0 on Saturday

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn broke a scoreless tie in the eighth and held on to top the BlueClaws 1-0 on Saturday at Maimonides Park.

BlueClaws starter Tanner Gresham gave up four hits over 5.2 scoreless innings, adding four strikeouts. It was his longest outing since joining the BlueClaws in June. 

The game, however, remained scoreless into the eighth when Brooklyn scratched out a run on Jake Eddington (2-2). Jamari Baylor singled to start the inning and went to third on a fielder's choice and throwing error. 

Chase Meggers then hit a grounder to second with the infield in but Baylor beat the throw to the plate to score the only run of the game. 

Brooklyn starter Jose Chirinos gave up two hits over 6.2 scoreless innings and also did not factor in the decision. 

Nate Humphreys, TJayy Walton, and Kodey Shojinaga had the hits for Jersey Shore. 

The teams finish their series on Sunday at 2:00 pm. LHP Cade Obermueller starts for Jersey Shore.
