Manchester, NH - The Portland Sea Dogs (19-15)(54-48) came up short in a 6-4 loss against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (13-17)(49-52) on Tuesday evening to open up their final series against New Hampshire this season.
Miguel Bleis had a three-hit night with a pair of singles and his first home run since July 8th, his tenth overall, driving in three of the Sea Dogs’ four runs. Johanfran Garcia drove in a run as well with a solo home run, his thirteenth of the year.
New Hampshire collected six runs, including a pair of RBI doubles, against RHP Caleb Bolden in the third inning, jumping into a 4-0 lead.
Garcia’s solo home run put the Sea Dogs on the board in the top of the fourth, sparking a two-out rally. Mason White singled and Max Ferguson walked, before Bleis ripped an RBI single to drive in White.
Yoeilin Cespedes grounded out to drive in a run in the top of the seventh, before Dub Gleed hit a two-run home run, extending New Hampshire’s lead back to 6-3.
Bleis came through with a home run in the ninth inning, but it was not enough to complete the comeback, as Portland fell 6-4.
RHP Angel Obando (1-0, 5.40 ERA) earned the win, allowing one run on one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched. RHP Caleb Bolden (2-5, 5.47 ERA) was handed the loss, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks in 2.0 innings pitched. RHP Yondrei Rojas earned the save, his second of the season.
The Sea Dogs and the Fisher Cats continue their series with a day game tomorrow. LHP Dalton Rogers (1-3, 5.26 ERA) will face off against LHP Mason Olson (4-3, 4.08 ERA), with first pitch scheduled for 12:05 pm at Delta Dental Stadium.
