
Manchester, NH - The Portland Sea Dogs (20-16)(55-49) mustered three hits in a 5-2 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (14-18)(50-53), on Thursday night.
The Fisher Cats jumped in front early, loading the bases with nobody out in the first inning. Starter LHP Hayden Mullins managed to hold New Hampshire to just one run, and the Sea Dogs trailed 1-0.
Portland tied the game in the top of the sixth inning when Johanfran Garcia broke through the no-hitter with an RBI double, scoring Ronald Rosario from first base.
The Fisher Cats responded with four runs in the bottom half. Nick Goodwin drove in a run with a sacrifice fly before Dub Gleed cleared the bases with his second home run of the series, a three-run shot, and New Hampshire led 5-1.
In the bottom of the ninth, Miguel Bleis hit an RBI single to score Mason White, but the two-out rally fell short, and the Sea Dogs lost 5-2.
RHP Gage Stanifer (4-7, 4.98 ERA) earned the win, allowing one run on one hit with five walks and five strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched. RHP Cooper Adams (8-5, 6.67 ERA) shouldered the loss, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout in 1.0 innings pitched. RHP Yondrei Rojas (S, 3) earned his second save of the series.
The Sea Dogs and the Fisher Cats continue their series tomorrow night. LHP Devin Futrell (NR) is scheduled to make his Double-A debut for Portland against RHP Austin Cates (1-4, 5.21 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 6:03 pm at Delta Dental Stadium.
