Sea Dogs Win Fourth Straight in Richmond

Richmond, VA – The Portland Sea Dogs (64-60, 29-27) won their fourth-straight game 14-3 over the Richmond Flying Squirrels (71-52, 28-27) at CarMax Park on Saturday night.

RHP Morgan McSweeney fanned a career-high eight batters across 5.0 innings tonight for the Sea Dogs. He allowed one run on three hits while walking one. Portland blasted three homers in the win. Johanfran Garcia crushed his 15th and 16th of the season with two three-run homers in the eighth and ninth innings. He finished the night four-for-six with two homers, six RBI, and scored three runs. Nelly Taylor hit a solo homer in the top of the ninth

The Sea Dogs exploded for six runs in the sixth inning. Ronald Rosario drove home the game-tying run with an RBI double then scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. Henry Godbout and Justin Gonzales each had RBI hits while Tyler McDonough, Garcia and Caden Rose each drew walks.

After a leadoff single by Trevor Cohen, Sabin Ceballos drove him home with an RBI single and the Flying Squirrels led, 1-0 after the first inning.

RHP Morgan McSweeney (1-0, 8.78 ERA) earned the win tossing the first 5.0 innings while LHP Jack Choate (6-3, 4.34 ERA) was given the loss pitching 1.1 innings allowing seven runs on three hits while walking one and striking out two for Richmond.

The Sea Dogs and Flying Squirrels will meet for the series finale, tomorrow, Sunday August 30th at 5:05pm. RHP Alex Bouchard (NR) will make his Sea Dogs debut while LHP Jacob Bresnahan (NR) will make his Double-A debut for Richmond.
