Players who have won the World Series and World Baseball Classic

Contreras, Chourio and Senzatela join rare company to win both in same year

Winning a World Series is cool. So is winning a World Baseball Classic. How about both?

Better yet, how about winning both of them in the same year? That happened for three members of the 2026 Brewers World Series team who also won the '26 World Baseball Classic with Venezuela. William Contreras, Jackson Chourio and Antonio Senzatela helped secure the first World Series title for the Brewers and first Classic title for Venezuela. Before 2026, only two players had won both a World Series and Classic in the same year.

What follows are two separate lists of World Series and Classic glory. In the first section is a list of more exclusive players to win both titles in the same year. In the second section is a group of players to win both a World Series and Classic at any point in their career.

To qualify for this list, a player must have at least appeared in one postseason game for that year's eventual World Series champion. That means Angel Zerpa, who appeared in 12 regular-season games for the 2026 Brewers but none in the postseason, didn't qualify. Neither, in turn, does Andrew Miller (2013 Red Sox/2017 USA), Hanley Ramirez (2018 Red Sox/2013 Dominican Republic) or Nori Aoki (2017 Astros/2006, '09 Japan), among a few others.

Here are the 30 players who have won World Series and World Baseball Classic titles.

Players to win WS and WBC title in same year

2026: WBC (Venezuela) and World Series (Brewers)
William Contreras, Jackson Chourio and Antonio Senzatela

Contreras was maybe the most impressive of any Brewer in the 2026 title run, ultimately winning World Series MVP thanks to all-around excellence. Chourio recorded 11 hits in five games in the World Series, had a walk-off single against the Padres in NLDS Game 2 and a first-pitch leadoff homer in NLCS Game 3 against the Dodgers. Senzatela, too, didn't allow an earned run in 4 1/3 innings.

Those three were also a pivotal part of Venezuela's Classic title that culminated in a win over the United States. It was a remarkable run for this trio of players to help bring title glory to both their home country and their respective MLB team.

2017: WBC (United States) and World Series (Astros)
Alex Bregman, Luke Gregerson

Similar to the aforementioned Venezuelan-born players to win a title for the Brewers, Bregman and Gregerson also brought first-time glory to their country and MLB team. Bregman and Gregerson began their seasons by helping the United States win its first Classic title and bookended it with the first World Series title for the Astros.
