Is this already the best catch of the Classic?!

HOUSTON -- Trayce Thompson might've just made the catch of the World Baseball Classic against Team USA.

The Great Britain outfielder went up and over the wall in right field at Daikin Park for a sensational home run robbery of Will Smith on Saturday night.

As Thompson tumbled to the ground, no one could tell at first whether he had made the grab. But, as he sat on the warning track facing the fence, he finally pulled the ball from his glove and held it high above his head.

Seeing Thompson with the ball in hand, Great Britain starting pitcher Tyler Viza raised his arms in astonishment.

It was reminiscent of the great home run robberies of past World Baseball Classics: Randy Arozarena's robbery with swagger for Mexico against Japan in 2023, and of course Adam Jones' iconic home run robbery for the U.S. against Manny Machado and the Dominican Republic in 2017 -- the most famous catch in WBC history.

Jones himself even took to social media Saturday night to appreciate Thompson's robbery.

Thompson, the younger brother of NBA star Klay Thompson, is no stranger to making big plays against the U.S. in the WBC. When Great Britain played Team USA in the 2023 Classic, Thompson belted a home run off Adam Wainwright to open the scoring.
