Full name Jayson Truitt Edward Nix...is a 2001 graduate of Midland (Tex.) High School...brother, Laynce, signed with the Phillies organization for the 2012 season...was a member of the bronze-medal winning 2008 U.S. Olympic Baseball Team in Beijing, China...was originally selected by Colorado in Compensation Round A (44th overall) of the 2003 First-Year Player Draft (6/03).

2013

Appeared in 87 games for the Yankees, making 41 starts at shortstop and 33 starts at third base…made 4 appearances at second base…helped fill in for Alex Rodriguez, Kevin Youkilis and Derek Jeter…season was cut short by a fractured right hand suffered on Aug 21 vs. TOR when R.A. Dickey hit him with a pitch…also spent most of July on the DL with a hamstring strain…stole 13 bases and was caught just once.

2012

Opened the season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (Yankees) and appeared in 8 games before joining the Yankees…made starts at five different positions (29-3B, 18-SS, 13-2B, 11-LF, 2-DH) in New York and appeared in 74 games…made his postseason debut and went 2-for-4 in one ALDS game vs. BAL…went 0-for-4 in one ALCS game vs. DET.

2011

Was acquired by Toronto from Cleveland on 3/29 in exchange for cash considerations... made the Blue Jays' Opening Day roster and appeared in 46 games with the club, batting .169 (23-for-136) with 4HR and 16RBI...was designated for assignment on 7/3 and outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas on 7/7 for the remainder of the season...hit .270 (44-for-163) with 8HR and 29RBI in 41 games with the 51s.

2010

In his second straight season at Double-A Tulsa, Nix batted .236 with 11 home runs and 47 RBI in 131 games...was rated by Baseball America as the club's 10th-best prospect entering the year...average was under .200 as late as a May 9 doubleheader...had two doubles and three RBI in consecutive games, May 4 at Midland and May 5 vs. Frisco...first two home runs came in span of two days, May 9-10...first 3-hit game came May 14 at Arkansas, part of a five-game hit streak...posted a pair of season-high seven-game hit streaks, May 28-June 3 and July 24-29...posted first of a pair of two-homer games during first stretch on May 30 vs. San Antonio...hit .295 with six HR, six doubles, and 16 RBI over 31 games in July...posted three straight multi-hit games from July 10-12 at 8-for-14...homered five times over a span of eight games to end July, including a two-HR game July 31 vs. Springfield that would provide his final long balls of the season...hit eight of his 11 HR at home...had a six-game hit streak from Aug. 7-13 that raised average to season-high .249.

2004

Rated by Baseball America as Colorado's fifth-best prospect entering the year, Nix struggled in his first season at Double A, hitting .213 with 14 homers and 58 RBI for Tulsa...he jacked 13 of his 14 home runs at Drillers Stadium where he also collected 44 of his 58 RBI...stole 14 bases in 17 attempts (82%)...led all Texas League second basemen with 19 errors but faced the most chances (664) and turned the most doubleplays (85) at his position...began the season by hitting .320 in his first 15 games through May 1...he then went 0-for-his-next-15 and collected just eight hits in his next 71 at-bats (.113) to watch his average slip to .198 by May 23...after having only two HR and six RBI in his first 25 games combined, Nix hit two HR with five RBI on May 15 vs. Arkansas...he also had a two-homer game on June 13 vs. El Paso...compiled a 13-game hitting streak, June 5-18...he batted .327 throughout the streak (17-for-52), raising his average to .229...Jayson followed that up by going hitless in his next 17 at-bats and his average never rose above .217 after July 8...he was 3-for-40 (.075) from Aug. 18-30...missed almost a week, April 21-26, due to a strained right hamstring...competed in the Arizona Fall League, batting.191 with two HR and eight RBI for Mesa.

Nix tied for the minor league lead with 46 doubles while hitting .281 with 26 homers and 81 RBI at Visalia (High A)...the 46 doubles equaled Lake Elsinore's Josh Barfield for tops in the minors and also set a new Rockies organizational record...led the California League in games (137) and runs scored (107), which trailed only fellow Rockies prospect Jeff Salazar (110) for most in the minors...finished second in the Cal League in hits (158), extra-base hits (67) and at-bats (562), was fourth in total bases (267) and tied for fourth in home runs...only two other minor league players had more hits go for extra bases, Barfield (68) and Jayson Drobiak (69)...Jayson went 24-for-32 in stolen base attempts (75%)...compiled a team-high 18-game hitting streak from July 26-Aug. 14...also reached base safely in 29 consecutive games, June 4- July 7...hit 2 home runs with 3 RBI during Jeff Francis' no hitter on July 6 vs. Modesto...Baseball America called him the "Best Defensive Second Baseman in the Cal League"...following the season, Sportsticker rated Nix as the fourth-best second baseman in the minors and The Sporting News named him to its All- Prospect Team...played in the Arizona Fall League, hitting .226 for the Mesa Solar Sox.

Jayson was a mid-season South Atlantic League All-Star in his first full year as a pro...made the move to second base where he hit .246 with 14 homers and 79 RBI...named Rockies Minor League Player of the Month for May, hitting .311 with four HR and 24 RBI.

Made his debut as a shortstop with Casper (R) after being selected that June...he hit .294 with five HR and 24 RBI in only 153 at-bats...began playing second base during the fall instructional league.
