Bryce Harper debuted his custom Las Vegas cleats and promptly got a base hit

On Thursday, Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper showed off a pair of cleats that paid homage to his hometown of Las Vegas and the victims of Sunday's mass shooting. On Friday night, he wore them on the field as the Nationals hosted the Cubs -- and fellow Las Vegas native Kris Bryant -- in Game 1 of the NLDS.

How did Harper break in his new kicks? By lining a single into right field, of course.
While Las Vegas and America continue to recover from the horrific events of Sunday evening, Harper's cleats -- in their own small way -- help him and baseball fans keep those affected in their thoughts. The Cubs ended up winning the game, 3-0, but Nats fans can tune in on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. ET on TBS to see if their team can even up the NLDS at 1.
