The Cubs visited Barack Obama, and Theo Epstein pardoned him for being a White Sox fan

The last time the franchise that would become the Cubs visited the White House, it was 1888. Grover Cleveland was president, and the team was still called the Chicago … White Stockings. At least, that's according to a story Theo Epstein told at the White House on Monday, when the Cubs spent a little time with the country's White Sox Fan-in-Chief.

It looks like President Obama got a lot of Cubs swag. How is a South Sider supposed to deal with that? Well, luckily, Epstein offered him a "midnight pardon."

In addition to getting two No. 44 jerseys from his fellow No. 44, Anthony Rizzo, Obama also got a 44 from the Wrigley scoreboard and a lifetime pass to any Cubs game. We're pretty sure Michelle is happiest about that last gift:

The Cubs seemed to enjoy their trip to the White House -- after all, they converted a White Sox fan. But they also had fun taking photos around the historic building and perhaps imagining their future occupations:

After all, David Ross is retired now, so there's no reason he can't campaign to be president. The only question is, who should he choose as his VP?
