MIAMI -- Less than an hour before first pitch against the Marlins on Sunday at loanDepot park, the Cubs scratched Ian Happ from the lineup with left knee discomfort.
Happ was scheduled to start in left field and bat fifth. Instead, he was replaced by Tyrone Taylor, who batted ninth and played left field.
In the Cubs’ 6-5 win over the Marlins on Saturday, the outfielder had plenty of action in left. He made a diving catch off a liner from Jakob Marsee in the bottom of the second. In the bottom of the fourth, he made a sliding catch on a fly ball by Joe Mack.
He went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a walk in Saturday’s win after going 1-for-4 in the series opener on Friday. For the season, Happ is batting .221 with 23 homers and 64 RBIs.
