Hechavarría helps set Braves HR record

ATLANTA -- Adeiny Hechavarría's home run in the eighth inning of Tuesday night’s 5-4 loss to the Phillies at SunTrust Park was the 236th homer hit by the Braves in 2019, a new single-season franchise record.

Setting franchise records hasn’t been a rarity during a year that has seen more homers than in any other Major League season. But it’s worth noting that the only previous times a Braves team hit as many as 220 homers was in 2003 (235) and in '06 (222).

Ronald Acuña Jr. (39), Freddie Freeman (38) and Josh Donaldson (37) are bidding to make this year’s Braves just the fourth team in MLB history to have three different players reach 40 homers in a season. The other trios came from the 1973 Braves (Davey Johnson, Darrell Evans and Hank Aaron), the 1996 Rockies (Andres Galarraga, Vinny Castilla and Ellis Burks) and the '97 Rockies (Larry Walker, Galarraga and Castilla).

Adam Duvall added a pinch-hit homer of his own in the ninth.
