ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Angels will have the No. 12 pick in the 2026 Draft, it was officially announced on Tuesday at the Winter Meetings.

Despite finishing with the seventh-worst record in the Majors last season, the Angels were ineligible for the Draft lottery this year. They are considered a “payor club” because they give rather than receive revenue sharing dollars and therefore can’t receive a lottery pick in consecutive years.

Last season, the Angels fared well in the lottery and were awarded the No. 2 pick for the first time in franchise history. They used that selection on right-hander Tyler Bremner out of the University of Santa Barbara and he’s now ranked as the club’s No. 1 prospect and the No. 91 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Angels general manager Perry Minasian confirmed that Bremner will be invited to Major League Spring Training despite not pitching in the Minors last year. With how aggressive the Angels are with their prospects, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him reach the Majors next season.

The Angels won’t have the chance to pick as early as they did last year but Minasian is confident they’ll still have the opportunity to add impact talent at No. 12. Shortstop Zach Neto, who has emerged as the club’s best player over the last two seasons, was the No. 13 overall selection in the 2022 Draft, while first baseman Nolan Schanuel was the No. 11 pick in ’23.

“There's good players everywhere,” Minasian said. “I have a ton of confidence in our staff to continue to find the right guys that we can put on the field to help us win games.”
