HOUSTON -- Astros pitcher Zack Greinke, who dazzled with his defense in Game 7 of the World Series, won his sixth Rawlings Gold Glove on Sunday. Greinke was named the winner in the National League after spending the first four months of the season with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

This is the sixth consecutive NL Gold Glove for Greinke, who won two with the Dodgers (2014-15) before starting a four-year run with Arizona. He beat out fellow NL finalists Aaron Nola of the Phillies and Jack Flaherty of the Cardinals. Greinke was traded to the Astros from Arizona on July 31.

Greinke had four defensive runs saved this year, and he had 68 fielding chances, recording 33 putouts and 34 assists while making one error.

The Astros had four Gold Glove finalists in the AL but had no winners, with Yuli Gurriel (first base), José Altuve (second base), Alex Bregman (third base) and Josh Reddick (right field) all coming up short. Oakland teammates Matt Olson (first base) and Matt Chapman (third base) each won Gold Gloves, with Chicago’s Yolmer Sánchez winning at second and Mookie Betts taking the honors in right field.

Greinke’s fielding prowess was on display in Game 7 of the World Series when he devoured anything hit back towards the mound. He had five assists, including four by the end of the fourth inning. He became the first pitcher with five assists in a World Series game since Greg Maddux in Game 2 of the 1996 World Series between the Braves and the Yankees.
