WEST SACRAMENTO -- This is what the Athletics offense is supposed to look like.

The A’s showed in Sunday’s 7-1 win over the Guardians at Sutter Health Park that they’re finding some much-needed consistency at the plate. Every A’s starter reached base safely in the victory -- the club’s fifth straight game scoring at least five runs -- and some serious power was on display, too.

Colby Thomas launched his first homer of 2026, a no-doubter to left field, to open the scoring in the second inning. Then in the fifth, Zack Gelof broke a 1-1 tie with a 429-foot solo home run to left field, and Tyler Soderstrom followed him with a dinger to right for the A’s fourth pair of back-to-back homers this season.

The bottom of the A’s batting order hasn’t been particularly productive in 2026, but it was hard to tell on Sunday. Hitting in the No. 9 spot for the second time in the series, second baseman Jeff McNeil went 2-for-4 with a three-run double to break the game open in the sixth.

The win helped the A’s avoid a three-game sweep and remain in first place in the American League West at 18-16 before beginning a six-game road trip through Philadelphia and Baltimore on Tuesday.
