A's get preview of new home with 6-game Las Vegas Series

The Athletics are still a couple of years away from relocating to Las Vegas. But they’ll get a preview of their new home this week.

The A’s are in Sin City for the Las Vegas Series to play three games apiece against the Brewers (June 8-10) and Rockies (June 12-14) at Las Vegas Ballpark, home to the organization's Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas Aviators.

Las Vegas Ballpark is located in Downtown Summerlin and sits just a few miles west of the site of the club’s future home on the Las Vegas strip. Construction on the new park is currently underway and expected to be ready in time for the 2028 season.

These are the first regular-season games that the A’s are playing in Nevada since 1996, when they played six home games at Cashman Field due to renovations at Oakland Coliseum.

In March, the A's also played a pair of exhibition games against the Angels in Las Vegas as a part of the team’s Spring Training slate.

“It all starts with youth,” Athletics owner John Fisher said in March prior to one of the team’s exhibition games at Las Vegas Ballpark. “If you can appeal to your youngest fans, then their parents have to follow, and then the young fans become adults. We all know that the teams you grew up rooting for are the teams you root for today.

“... We know there’s a lot of baseball fans here who are not A’s fans yet. But the same thing could have been said about the Golden Knights, the Raiders, the Aces. For us to be able to really focus on connecting people to our team and what makes us different, what makes us exciting, what makes us part of Vegas, so many of our players came from playing Triple-A baseball in this ballpark.”

The A’s (31-34) enter play on Monday sitting just 2 1/2 games out of first place in the AL West, fueled by a promising core of young hitters. That group includes second-year first baseman Nick Kurtz and catcher Shea Langeliers, two players in a strong position to receive their first career All-Star nods later this summer.
