Guyer names second child after a ballpark

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Brandon Guyer started in right field for the Rays on Thursday during their 6-1 win over the Phillies, his first appearance since he and his wife, Lindsay, welcomed Camden, their second child to the world on Monday.
The couple liked the way "Camden Guyer" sounded, and they had a little history with the name, as well. Guyer made his Major League debut at Baltimore's Camden Yards and homered in his first Major League at-bat when he led off the game.
A subplot to that story came in the fact Lindsay worked as a sports anchor in Washington, D.C., at the time and was on her way to the game from work when he homered.
"So we like the name, but it has a little extra meaning to it, too," Guyer said.
The Guyers also have a daughter, Riley, who is 14 months old. Lindsay had a C-section with Camden, so the couple knew in advance that Monday would be the delivery day.
"Everything went well," Guyer said. "It's scheduled, so just go in and everything is boom, boom, boom."
Guyer reported that he's been getting his sleep thus far, thanks to Lindsay.
"I have been just because Lindsay gets up and does everything, she does the feeding, she's a champ," Guyer said. "Honestly, she does it all, so I've been getting some pretty good sleep."
• Rays manager Kevin Cash has a "camp day" planned for Sunday for players not going to Sarasota, Fla., for the Rays' game against the Orioles.
"We'll have a select group go when we go to Sarasota, play [the Orioles] then get on a plane for [Cuba]," Cash said. "Some guys will stay back and play in that camp day intersquad and get at-bats. It starts roughly at 10 or 11, then meet us at the Trop."
• Matt Andriese (tightness in his left abdominal muscle) will pitch in a Minor League game in Port Charlotte, Fla., on Friday. He has not pitched in a game since March 8 when he threw three innings against the Tigers in Lakeland, Fla.
"Given that he had eight or nine days now of no pitching, so we can control the environment a little bit [in a Minor League game]," Cash said. "But everything has been good. Getting off the mound, he felt fine."
• Logan Forsythe was back in the lineup for the Rays against the Phillies on Thursday and feeling fine.
The Rays second baseman left Tuesday's game against the Phillies after getting hit by a pitch near his left elbow when he led off the bottom of the first. Forsythe never thought the beaning would set him back, and it didn't.

The Rays were off on Wednesday and playing in Clearwater on Thursday. Forsythe led off the game with a homer to left field on a 2-0 pitch from right-hander Vince Velasquez.
"Felt OK," Forsythe said. "The soreness was still there a little bit with the elbow, but no limitations, really. ... I think we're OK."
Forsythe, who is under consideratiion to become the team's leadoff hitter, has led off six times this spring and has reached base in his first at-bat in each of those games.
