If you need a hit, you want Braves No. 4 prospect Tate Southisene in the batter's box right now. Fortunately for the Single-A Augusta GreenJackets, that's what played out in the top of the ninth inning of Friday's game against the Columbia Fireflies at Segra Park.
Southisene stepped to the plate with the GreenJackets down to their last out and trailing 10-8 in the ninth inning. The good news? The bases were loaded. They became unloaded once Southisene smacked a fastball to right field that one-hopped off the wall and drove in all three runners. Augusta went on to win, 11-10.
That knock continued a stretch of red-hot hitting for the Braves' 2025 first-round Draft pick. Southisene has eight hits in his previous 18 at-bats, including three doubles and two home runs. He added seven walks in those five games, leading to a .615 on-base percentage and a 1.559 OPS. Southsiene, who has 60-grade speed, has also stolen five bases during this stretch and is 13-for-15 in steals this season.

Southisene was drafted as a shortstop and played nine of his 13 pro games last year at that position. This year, however, he has moved over to second base, manning the keystone position in all but one of his 15 games in the field. He's made just one error so far at second.
Although it doesn't really matter where Southisene plays as long as he's doing this much damage at the plate.
