Tate Southisene continues to roll for Single-A Augusta. The 19-year-old shortstop and Braves No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline had another good game on Wednesday and is offering a glimpse of what could be on the horizon for Atlanta within a few years.

Southisene, the Braves' first-round pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, went 2-for-5 with a homer and three RBIs on Wednesday in the GreenJackets' 5-4 loss to Charleston at SRP Park, and has now hit safely in 15 of his past 16 games.

Wednesday's performance gives Southisene a .441 on-base percentage, which ranks seventh in the Carolina League. It was also Southisene's second straight multi-hit game and his eighth of the season. Not only that, but nearly a third of his 30 hits this season have gone for extra bases. Southisene has five homers, four doubles and two triples in 136 plate appearances, giving him a team-high .505 slugging percentage and a .946 OPS.

Southisene's production so far in 2026 is a dramatic improvement over his debut in the pros last season, when he slashed .219/.242/.297 in 15 games for Augusta as an 18-year-old. Such a stat line isn't unusual for a teenager getting his first taste of pro ball. But the progress he's made in such a short time is exactly what a team hopes to see from a first-round pick, and shows that Southisene is right on track for an expected big league debut by 2029.
