Bryce Miller made another big step in his recovery process from left oblique inflammation that has sidelined him to begin the year.

On Friday, Miller made his second rehab start, throwing three scoreless innings for High-A Everett, while striking out six batters. He only allowed one hit and issued a lone walk, while throwing 35 of 47 pitches for strikes. The Mariners’ right-hander made his first rehab start on April 18 for Triple-A Tacoma, throwing 33 pitches across 1 2/3 innings while allowing three runs.

Miller, who is projected to return sometime in May, figures to add even more depth to a rotation performing at a high level. Seattle’s rotation entered Friday’s 3-2 win over the Cardinals as a top-10 unit by many measures, which has been helped in part by Emerson Hancock’s breakout (2.83 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 28 2/3 innings).

Miller had a 5.68 ERA in 18 starts last season while dealing with various injuries. This came after a superb 2024 showing, when Miller had a 2.94 ERA and 171 strikeouts in 180 1/3 innings.
