Joshua Báez has delivered a few performances this year that will leave those in attendance in awe.

The Cardinals’ No. 3 prospect turned in another of those nights Thursday with his fourth multihomer game of the season -- the eighth of his career -- in a three-hit outing in Triple-A Memphis’ 8-6 win over Charlotte at AutoZone Park. Báez parked Nos. 27 and 28 on the season, which landed him the lead across the Minors, breaking a tie with Brewers No. 8 prospect Andrew Fischer and D-backs prospect Manuel Pena.

MLB's No. 49 prospect kickstarted the offense in the first with a solo shot to left field that exited at 103.8 mph against Charlotte right-hander David Sandlin (CWS No. 17). The right-handed hitter turned around Sandlin’s breaking ball for another solo homer to left in the sixth. Báez plated his third run of the night in the seventh with a 103.5 mph double. He also walked and stole his 14th base of the year in the fourth.

Báez’s played in over 100 games for the first time in 2025, socking 20 homers in 117 contests. The Massachusetts native is ahead of schedule in the roundtripper category in '26 with 28 in just 75 games. In that span, Baez has slashed .267/.333/.617.

For all of his home run prowess, he may never have another night like June 16 when he clubbed four homers and drove in seven runs against Nashville. Although he's playing at the Minors' highest level, just a call away from the big leagues, Báez is committed to being where his feet are and strengthening his development with the Redbirds.

"I'm in Memphis," he said back in June to MLB.com. "I'd rather be nowhere else right now, because the team needs me. We're in a playoff push and that's exactly what I'm trying to do."
