On a day particularly meaningful to Joshua Báez, the Cardinals slugger continued his Triple-A reign.
MLB's No. 64 prospect joined the Diamondbacks' Manuel Pena as the only Minor Leaguers who have reached 25 home runs so far this season. Báez wasted no time on Father's Day, hitting the mark in the bottom of the first inning of Memphis' 10-8 victory over Nashville at AutoZone Park.
In a four-pitch at-bat against Brewers righty Will Childers, Báez lofted a three-run long ball 413 feet to left field at 107 mph off the bat. The Cardinals' No. 3 prospect later tagged a double in the eighth to give him a 2-for-5 day.
Báez totaled six home runs in as many games this week. A career-high four of those came Tuesday, the three-year anniversary of his father's passing.
"I was just feeling him the whole time," Báez said earlier this week. "I think that he guided me today to be able to do that."
Over the past six games, the right-handed-hitting outfielder has slashed .304/.407/1.130 with seven hits and 13 RBIs. Through 67 contests at Triple-A, the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder has posted a .969 OPS with a career-high 25 homers.
