College Baseball Foundation elects officers

LUBBOCK, Texas — The College Baseball Foundation Board of Trustees announced the election of new officers on Thursday. Craig Ramsey will serve as the chairman, with Rick Greenspan as vice chairman. Andrea Watson is the secretary and Aaron Hill is the treasurer.

“I am excited to work with Craig and the new Executive Committee,” said CBF President/CEO Mike Gustafson. “Each of these trustees has been eager to serve the mission of the foundation since the day they came on board.”

The CBF is the parent organization of the National College Baseball Hall of Fame and currently has 15 trustees. Ramsey, retired from a 33-year career with Accenture specializing in mergers and acquisitions, joined the Board of Trustees in 2016. He will lead the effort to find a permanent home for the Hall of Fame.

“I knew Craig Ramsey was going to be a success after watching him grow up as a player in our program when I was an assistant under Dick Howser and later as head coach,” said Mike Martin, 2019 National College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee and retired Florida State coach. “He’s always been a quiet leader – not a boisterous guy. When he spoke, he was listened to. In 1980, he got his real chance to catch and took us to the College World Series. He is a special person and will do great job for the College Baseball Foundation.”

Greenspan will continue to lead the site selection process to find a permanent home for the National College Baseball Hall of Fame facility. He brings 30 years of administrative and managerial experience in intercollegiate athletics, having served as athletic director at four NCAA Division I universities.

Joining the officers are recently added trustees Tim Fitzpatrick and Hill.

Fitzpatrick is currently CEO of the New York Youth Baseball Foundation. Prior to that, he was director of athletics at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi after spending the previous four years as the deputy athletic director at Indiana University. He also has held executive-level administrative positions at the United States Military Academy at West Point and the University of Pittsburgh. He played football and baseball as a student at Hampden-Sydney College.

Hill is an assistant professor in the Management Department of the Warrington College of Business at the University of Florida. He received his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. His research interests address the personal characteristics, compensation and job mobility of executives. As an undergraduate student at Gonzaga, he served as student assistant coach for the Bulldogs.

“It is an extremely exciting time for the College Baseball Foundation as we welcome new executive leadership and board members,” said trustee and 2014 National College Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Mike Fiore. “We look forward to working with Rick and Craig and the entire board to advance an assertive and positive agenda that will continue to enhance the College Baseball Foundation, National College Baseball Hall of Fame and all of college baseball".
