Drew Wyers, Noah Sullivan and Davion Hickson earn national recognition from College Baseball Foundation

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Drew Wyers (Bryant), Noah Sullivan (Mississippi State) and Davion Hickson (Rice) earned weekly honors from the College Baseball Foundation (CBF) for their respective performances last week.

Wyers earned the Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week while Sullivan was named the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week. Hickson was selected as the National Pitcher of the Week.

Brooks Wallace Award Player of the Week (Nation’s Most Outstanding Shortstop)

Drew Wyers, IF, Junior, Bryant, Columbus, N.J.

Wyers keyed the Bulldogs at the plate last week, helping Bryant to a perfect 4-0 record with a mid-week win over Stonehill and a three-game weekend sweep of Maine. The junior shortstop was 10-for-17 (.588) on the week, tallying six RBI, there runs, three walks and one double. He was also perfect on 13 chances in the field, earning eight assists and five putouts, including contributing to a pair of double plays. On the season, Wyers is hitting .417 with six home runs and 36 RBI.

John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Week Award

Noah Sullivan, DH/RHP, Senior, Mississippi State, Orlando, Fla.

Sullivan was instrumental for the Bulldogs both at the plate and on the mound last week. The senior helped lead his team to a 4-0 record with a mid-week win over Memphis and a three-game weekend sweep of Kentucky. It was the third SEC series win and the first conference sweep for the Bulldogs this season. Offensively, Sullivan was 4-for-12 (.333) with five runs, four walks, three RBI and two doubles. As a pitcher, he made one appearance, tossing three shutout innings, allowing only one hit, while striking out five in the victory over the Tigers. Sullivan is hitting .340 with 11 home runs and 37 RBI this season. In his seven starts on the mound, he sports a 1.96 ERA in 18.1 innings pitched.

National Pitcher of the Week

Davion Hickson, RHP, Junior, Rice, Palmetto, Fla.

Hickson was spectacular on the mound for the Owls in tossing a complete game shutout against Charlotte in the series opener last Friday. The right-hander allowed only one hit in nine innings of work, issuing three walks and fanning nine batters. He earned his second win of the season on 132 pitches, earning the first complete game, one-hit shutout by a Rice pitcher since 2012. Hickson was named the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Pitcher of the Week for his performance. He also helped key the Rice to its first series win over Charlotte since 2017.

College Baseball Foundation Weekly Honors

Brooks Wallace Award

The Brooks Wallace Award is presented annually to honor the nation's most outstanding shortstop. It is a tribute to Brooks Wallace, a slick-fielding shortstop at Texas Tech from 1977-80 who passed away at age 27 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Prior to 2009, the award recognized the national player of the year.

John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award

The John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award is presented annually by the College Baseball Foundation to honor the nation's top combo pitcher-position player. Olerud, who was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007, was a standout pitcher and first baseman at Washington State from 1987 through 1989.

Each year, more than 190 representatives nationwide vote on the College Baseball Hall of Fame induction class.
