MILWAUKEE -- The D-backs are going with 14 position players and 12 pitchers on the 26-man roster for their NL Wild Card Series against the Brewers, which begins Tuesday.

On the pitching side, the team elected to keep rookie right-hander Bryce Jarvis on the roster over left-hander reliever Kyle Nelson.

On the position-player side of things, the team decided to add infielder/outfielder Pavin Smith to the roster and veteran utility player Jace Peterson, who was acquired just prior to the Trade Deadline, replaced an injured Jake McCarthy on the roster.

A reminder: Teams submit a new 26-man roster with a maximum of 13 pitchers prior to the first pitch of each postseason round. So, should the D-backs advance to the NL Division Series against the Dodgers, they would select a roster reflective of a best-of-five series prior to Game 1 in Los Angeles on Saturday.
